II. INTERNATIONAL FOLK GASTRONOMY SYMPOSIUM | ISSS CONGRESS

Dear Academicians;

Nutrition, one of the indispensable needs of humans, opens the door to a very colorful and profound cultural world shaped by climate and geographical opportunities. Every society, with an extraordinary effort spanning centuries and generations, succeeds in bringing the cultural codes that created them into their kitchens and tables. Malatya is one of the leading gastronomy centers of our country, which has a very rich and diverse food and beverage culture. The main purpose of the symposium will be to identify all the reflections of "FOLK GASTRONOMY" at the meeting point of different cultures and beliefs and to leave a well-organized knowledge base on this subject to the future.

 

The symposium plans to give a limited number of oral presentations in parallel sessions over two days:

  • Public economy and food and beverage culture

  • Folk meteorology and food and drink culture
  • Eating and drinking practices in transition period rituals
  • Eating and drinking culture in Sufi thought
  • Food and drink culture in anonymous folk literature
  • Food and drink culture in minstrel literature

April 15, 2024 - Deadline for submission of applications and abstracts

April 18, 2024 - Announcement date for paper acceptances

20 May 2024 - Deadline for completing the participation procedure.

24 May 2024 - Announcement of the Symposium Program.

6-8 June 2024 -II. International Folk Gastronomy Symposium

 

PARTICIPATION FEE

1000 TL

 

Services included in the participation fee:

5-7 June 2024 (3 nights accommodation), symposium registration, presentation, hot drinks during the symposium, lunch for 2 days, symposium gala dinner, city tour, Malatya cuisine tasting experience, Public Gastronomy II book chapter publication.

 

Congress participants can present only one paper and the presentation is made by the presenter. For co-authored studies, each congress participant must pay a registration fee.

 

Services to be offered to participants who will participate in the program as listeners; hot drinks during the symposium, lunch for 2 days, and Symposium Gala Dinner.
